The shower that looks good is not always the right one for you. In general it means choosing a shower for its performance and value for money. There are generally 3 types of shower:-
Electric – Instant Hot Water.
Mixer Shower – Gravity Fed.
Power Shower – Mixer shower built in pump or mixer shower with pump separate i.e. Hot Press
Electric
Probably the most popular and economical type as it gives instant hot water (either mains or gravity fed) as you use it. Pressure can vary depending on the weather. The hotter the shower, the less force of water. Most adequate in the summer times when people need a quick and instant shower.
Mixer Shower
Usually fed from your tank in the attic and hot from your copper cylinder. The pressure depends on the height of the cold water storage tank. The higher the tank, the greater the flow. It can have the added benefit of a pump to boost flow rates.
Power Shower
The power shower can be purchased as an all-in-one or you can install a separate booster pump. This can be fitted to an existing gravity shower. This is where the power comes into the shower and gives you an impressive spray. Generally worth considering if you have a constant hot supply of water.
